Cholesterol Screening
Cholesterol is made by the liver and is found in everyone’s blood. Your body needs cholesterol to make hormones and to keep your cells healthy. If you have too much cholesterol in your blood, your healthcare provider will make a diagnosis of high cholesterol. More than 50 million Americans have high cholesterol. People with high cholesterol have a greater risk of strokes, heart disease and heart attack because the extra cholesterol builds up on the inside walls of the arteries.
This video discusses treatments and lifestyle changes that can help you control your cholesterol.
